How to play Amazing Minesweeper
The goal of Amazing Minesweeper is to uncover all the squares on the board that do not contain mines — without detonating any of them!
To get started, click or tap any square on the board to reveal it. The first move is always safe, so don't be afraid to dive right in.
When you reveal a square, it will show a number. This number tells you exactly how many mines are hidden in the eight squares surrounding it. If a revealed square is blank, there are no mines around it, and all of its neighboring squares will open automatically.
Use the numbers as clues to figure out where the mines are hiding. When you are sure a square contains a mine, mark it with a flag to keep track of it. On desktop, right-click a square to place a flag. On mobile, press and hold a square, or switch to flag mode and simply tap.
Be careful — if you reveal a square with a mine, it explodes and the game is over!
There are no lucky guesses in a well-played game. Take your time, study the numbers, and every board can be solved with pure logic.

History of Minesweeper
Minesweeper's roots go all the way back to the earliest days of computing. Games where players had to navigate a hidden minefield appeared on mainframe computers as early as the 1960s and 70s, and in 1983 the game "Relentless Logic" for MS-DOS had players guiding a courier through a minefield — a direct ancestor of the game we know today.
The version that made Minesweeper world-famous, however, was created at Microsoft by Robert Donner and Curt Johnson. It was first released in 1990 as part of the Windows Entertainment Pack, and in 1992 it was included in Windows 3.1 — installed on virtually every PC in the world.
Just like Solitaire, which taught millions of new computer users how to click and drag, Minesweeper had a hidden educational purpose: it helped people practice precise mouse control and introduced them to the right mouse button. What most people remember, though, is not the tutorial — it's the countless hours spent trying to clear "Expert" mode without hitting a single mine.
